26 August 2008 - Research In Motion (RIM) today debuted the new BlackBerry® Bold™ smartphone in Singapore. The BlackBerry Bold smartphone builds on the proven BlackBerry® smartphone platform with enhanced communications and multimedia capabilities, and is the first BlackBerry smartphone to support tri-band HSDPA high-speed networks around the world. The BlackBerry Bold smartphone is expected to be available in Singapore from late September 2008. Pricing and service plans will be announced separately by RIM’s carrier partners.

21 August 2008 - Palm today announced the launch of the Treo™ Pro, a smartphone combined with sleek simplicity and robust productivity, and includes compelling features such as built-in GPS, Wi-Fi, touch-screen and a full keyboard. The Treo™ Pro smartphone is scheduled for availability in Singapore, which will be announced at a later date.

16 July 2008 - Lenovo today unveiled a complete computing solution for small-to-medium business (SMB) users that includes the new SL series of ThinkPad notebooks, value-added software and unique new services. Lenovo also announced an additional six new ThinkPad notebooks and four new IdeaPad notebooks for consumers, allowing them to express themselves with more choices of color, including Indigo blue, Bold black and Crimson red. All of the notebooks are based on the latest Intel® Centrino® 2 processor technology.

10 July 2008 - ASUS has acquired a “Multi Dual-Engine” architecture in designing the G70 with a duplex structure in its major system components, including dual graphics engine, dual hard drive bays and dual fan systems. Together with high-definition visual and audio capabilities, the G70 sets a new standard of mobile gaming, at the level of extreme performance, offering the capability of dedicated gaming rigs in a portable package. 17 June 2008 - StreamMyGame which enables games to be played remotely, has released today a new version of its software targeted at the highly popular Eee PC and Ebox from ASUS and over 100 UMPCs from other manufacturers. StreamMyGame's new software runs at full screen resolution on both Windows and Linux versions of the Eee PC and many other Netbooks and UMPCs. Utilising StreamMyGame's technology, high-end games including Crysis, Call of Duty 4, BioShock and HalfLife2 can be played smoothly and without lag on the Eee PC and other UMPCs providing a responsive gaming experience.

5 June 2008 - AMD announced their latest Turion 64 Ultra at Computex 2008 just hours ago. Codenamed "Puma", AMD showcased the various advantages that the Ultra Platform has over its competitors.

23 August 2008 - Albatron is gearing up to roll out its first Mini Tablet PC, dubbed the “Tee PC”, whose prototype was first shown at Computex 2008 (June). The 18.8x11.3x 1.3 cm dimensions and 343 grams give you an idea of how slim and portable the Tee PC really is. The CPU used with the Tee PC is a 400 MHz ARM926. The Tee PC comes with 128 MB of Nand flash memory as well as 128MB of SO-DIMM DDR memory. An SD Card expansion slot is also located on the tablet for removable mass storage.

20 August 2008 - Lenovo today announced the ThinkPad X301 notebook PC, taking the thinnest and lightest full-function notebook form starting at about 1.3kg and one-inch thin. The notebook offers even greater storage capacity with choices of either 64 GB or new 128 GB solid state drive storage available in September. Pricing for models of the ThinkPad X301 notebook starts at approximately S$3,900.

13 August 2008 - Inspired by close collaboration with nearly 4,000 IT professionals and end users, Dell today announced a completely new line of Latitude and Dell Precision laptops, ranging from the lightest ultra-portable in the company’s history to the most powerful mobile workstation. Dell will offer colors for the first time on Latitude laptops. In addition to Mica-Brushed Metal, the Latitude E4200, E4300, E6400 and E6500 will be available in Regatta Blue, Regal Red and Quartz Pink (E4200 only) in the coming weeks. The E5400 and E500 are available in Matte Black.

16 July 2008 - Palm today unveiled the phenomenally successful Palm® Centro™ smartphone in a new stylish onyx black. The onyx black Centro will be available from 19 July. The recommended retail price of the Palm Centro without an operator plan is S$598. Centro is available at all StarHub shops, M1 shops, Singtelshop.com and major IT retailers.

10 June 2008 -   Just before we say goodbye to Computex Taipei, we managed to lay our hands on a Acer Aspire One demo unit. Aspire One is internally known as ZG5 and is powered by Atom N270 at 1.6GHz. Acer is slated to launch it in July for US$399 and we feel that it is a worthy competitor to ASUS Eee PC series in terms of specs, look and feel. We learned that Acer is planning a 10" model as well.
