Marvell announced two new Bluetooth single-chip solutions which provides provides extended battery life in cell phones, converged devices, gaming devices and consoles, portable media players, and other applications requiring short- and long-range connectivity. silicon solutions, today introduced the 88W8689 Bluetooth single-chip solution,
featuring a Bluetooth Core Specification Version 2.0 + Enhanced Data Rate (EDR)-compliant
baseband, a radio frequency (RF) transceiver, and a worldwide FM radio receiver.
The 88W8689 is a highly integrated device, providing enhanced data rates and
extended-range features at a lower total system cost, as well as
industry-leading low power. The 88W8689 supports simultaneous use of Bluetooth
applications and FM radio, and includes support for the new Bluetooth Version
2.1 + EDR features. Marvell Introduces Next-Generation Bluetooth Version 2.0 + Enhanced Data Rate Single-Chip Solution Marvell (NASDAQ: MRVL), the leader in storage, communications, and consumer silicon solutions, today announced that the 88W8688, the world’s first WLAN plus Bluetooth single-chip solution for high-volume consumer electronics, has been qualified by the Bluetooth SIG for the Bluetooth Core Specification Version 2.0 + Enhanced Data Rate (EDR). The 88W8688 also features support for Bluetooth Version 2.1 + EDR features. The Marvell® 88W8688 delivers WLAN and Bluetooth in a small footprint, ultra-low-power single die that provides extended battery life in cell phones, converged devices, gaming devices and consoles, portable media players, and other applications requiring short- and long-range connectivity. The next-generation Bluetooth core specification provides an enhanced data rate of up to 3.0 megabits per second (Mbps), providing transmission speeds that are three to ten times faster than version 1.2. “We are pleased to provide fully qualified Bluetooth Version 2.0 + EDR
